Ok im almost done with the install... JRSC on Z6.. anyhow I started it up and the belt squealed and smoked. Before I started I remembered I had spilled a few drops of oil back there by mistake. So after about 20 secs the the smoke stopped, but the squeal was still there. Upon closer inspection I realized that the was no adjuster bolt on my bracket.

So now I have to loosen the tensioner somehow (real small space hehe) and then put the tensioner bolt back in. How much play should there be in the belt itself? I dont want to overtighten it or under tighten it. Thanx for all the help guys.

An open ended 17mm wrench will fit in there pretty easily. You only get about 1/8 of a turn at a time, and you need to flip the wrench back and forth to get it on the head of the bolt. Tighten the tensionner bolt 1 turn at a time till it stops squealing. The ideal tension is achieved when you get the split second squeal on cold startup, and you don't have a slipping at higher RPMs when you're building boost.

Too tight, and you'll fry your tensionner/idler pulleys and the bearings in your alternator. In extreme cases you'll damage the crankshaft bearings at the #1 crank journal.

Too loose, and you'll have slipping, noise and lost boost.

Ok I got the belt tightened... I must have a small vac leak because somtimes I have an irregular idle... it will vary between 950(est)-1350/1400(est)

Also I smell coolant but Im not sure if its from me spilling it everywhere when pouring it in...it smoked a little from under the hood, but I cant go totally on that since its pouring rain outside and I might have gotten the header wet etc.

What should my fuel pressure be set at? I have not retarded the timing yet....and I dont have my A/F or my EGT hooked up yet. So I guess I cant tell how lean I am..... could someone explain in detail how tom time it? Im a little confused... I have advanced timing on a car before but never reatrded.

I do have an under hood fuel gauge, dont quote me but I think I am getting in the range of 35-40 psi at idle. Does that seem ok?

I have driven the car, but never gave it WOT its always been half or barely any. I hit .5 bar at about 3500-4000rpms. Is this ok to do?

Sorry about all the questions... im just super tired from working on this and well I just feel like going to bed now
